In 2019, Something to Always Love Inc. was founded with a mission rooted in compassion, community, and care. The organization was originally intended to be named "Another Chance, Another Choice," but after discovering a similar name already in use, founder Tyrek Burton chose a title that better reflected the heart behind the mission—Something to Always Love.

In August 2019, Tyrek, now the Executive Director, secured the organization’s first partnership—laying the foundation for what would become a deeply impactful initiative. With the support of dedicated community members, he launched the Support Volunteer program, sending volunteers into local hospitals throughout Allegheny County to assist patients lacking family or long-term care.

From humble beginnings, Something to Always Love Inc. has grown into a symbol of hope, service, and advocacy for those in need.

In 2020, Something to Always Love Inc. became fully established as a nonprofit organization through the State of Pennsylvania, officially incorporating its headquarters in Pittsburgh. During this foundational year, the organization continued to partner with local hospitals—collaborating with Volunteer Services and Child Life departments to support Sickle Cell and Cancer patients. These efforts were made possible through the coordination of hospital staff and the dedication of our Support Volunteers.
However, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person volunteer programs were brought to a halt. As this was the organization’s only active initiative at the time, operations were temporarily paused. Despite the setback, this moment became a turning point for growth.

Throughout the pandemic, Founder Tyrek Burton focused on building a reliable and passionate leadership team, while also laying the groundwork to expand into Philadelphia, PA. With a strengthened team and newly appointed directors, the organization began to broaden its impact—beyond hospital walls.

One of the most significant milestones during this period was the drafting of a Health Care Reform Bill, authored by Something to Always Love Inc. and submitted to local state representatives. The bill was created to advocate for:
-
Equality in healthcare access for individuals in state and federal correctional institutions
-
Accountability for healthcare providers responsible for the care of incarcerated individuals under state supervision

Internally known as the "Health Care Reform Bill of 2020," this legislation marked the organization's entry into policy advocacy and systemic reform—reflecting its growing commitment to justice, equity, and long-term change.

In 2021, Something to Always Love Inc. expanded its community impact by forming a strategic partnership with Grow Pittsburgh. Together, they launched initiatives to develop community gardens in the Mon Valley area and throughout the City of Pittsburgh.

This partnership aligns with the organization’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion, with a particular focus on increasing representation among first responder groups.
Additionally, the program provides job training opportunities for high school and college students pursuing post-secondary education, helping them build valuable skills and experience that support both their academic and career goals.

Through this effort, Something to Always Love Inc. continues to deepen its roots in the community—promoting health, education, and economic empowerment.

In 2022, Something to Always Love Inc. deepened its commitment to community engagement by launching youth-focused programs. One highlight was "Kids on the Court," a 6-week fundamentals basketball camp held in collaboration with the Rankin Christian Center in Rankin, PA—just 7.5 miles outside of Pittsburgh.
This camp provided local youth with opportunities to develop athletic skills, build confidence, and foster teamwork in a supportive environment. Building on this successful collaboration, Something to Always Love Inc. and the Rankin Christian Center committed to a long-term partnership to co-host the Youth of the Nation service group throughout the 2022-2023 school year.
Together, these programs aim to empower young people through mentorship, community service, and leadership development.
