
Tyrek Burton
​
Tyrek D. Burton is a community leader, nonprofit executive, and emergency services professional based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is the Founder, President, and Executive Director of Something to Always Love, Inc., a community-centered nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to youth development programs, public safety education, and essential community resources.

With over a decade of service in volunteer and paid emergency response, Burton currently serves as a Paid Firefighter with the Collier Township – Fire Department and as a Volunteer Interior Firefighter with Munhall Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. He is a Pennsylvania State–certified Interior Firefighter and holds multiple emergency response certifications, including First Aid/CPR, Hazardous Materials Operations, and Emergency Vehicle Operations.

In addition to his public safety career, Burton brings extensive experience in nonprofit administration, grant research, proposal writing, financial oversight, and organizational leadership. Through his work with Something to Always Love, Inc., he has led fundraising initiatives, coordinated youth mentorship programs, and managed organizational budgets while maintaining a strong focus on accountability and community impact.
Burton’s leadership approach is rooted in hands-on service and education. He has been actively involved in initiatives addressing the decline of volunteer fire and emergency medical services in Pennsylvania and continues to advocate for mentorship pathways that introduce young people to careers in public safety and community service.

He is also recognized for his early achievements in civic education, having been a two-time winner of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Moot Court Competition.

Through his work across emergency services, nonprofit leadership, and youth advocacy, Tyrek D. Burton remains committed to strengthening communities, developing future leaders, and creating sustainable systems of support for those he serves.
President, Executive Director

Ms. Self is a dedicated professional with a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Juvenile Justice, bringing extensive experience in youth development and student support. Her commitment to working with children and adolescents began at the age of 13 and has continued throughout her academic and professional career.

She has held impactful roles as a Teaching Assistant, Truancy Advocate, and Career Counselor, where she supported students in achieving academic success, improving attendance, and preparing for future career pathways. Her work has focused on mentorship, advocacy, and helping young people overcome personal and educational challenges.
​
In addition to her youth services experience, Ms. Self possesses a strong background in customer service and demonstrates professional strengths in writing, communication, organization, and time management.

Ms. Self is passionate about fostering growth, providing guidance, and creating opportunities that empower individuals to reach their full potential.
